Loes van Schaijk feat. Jan Bartošek and Michal Rudolf Cádra - Simon Says // Avoid Sessions

Originally from The Netherlands, now based in Prague, Loes is an americana/folk singer and songwriter. When Loes sings, she crawls into the song. A storyteller first and foremost, with no desire to impress any TV-show judges, she tries to steer clear of vocal frills and tricks but instead brings a natural sound, charisma and memorable smile. Because of this, people have compared her style to June Tabor, Mary Black and Sandy Denny, to name only a few of Loes’s musical heroes. Other sources of influence and inspiration are Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott, Paul Brady, The Duhks, Bryan Sutton, Karine Polwart and... Paul Simon. It's the flow of the lyrics derived from interlocking polyrhythm on Paul Simon's albums "Graceland" and "Rhythm of the Saints," and an interview with Paul Simon in Paul Zollo's book "Songwriters on Songwriting," that inspired Loes to write the song "Simon Says." This catchy feel-good song will feature on her solo album (expected spring 2021). Today at AVOID Sessions she is supported by Jan Bartošek (violin) and Michal Rudolf Cádra (guitar).
